I really loved Robert Fulghum’s books of a similar title. His writings were all about how anyone could succeed without regard to advanced education if you were good at some very basic human skills. With homage to Mr. Fulghum, the ability to be a great couponer requires only skills you learned at a very young age.
You just need someone to show you how to apply your skills to couponing. As to my credentials to guide you, Mom taught me to read well before the first naptime at Tatnall School’s Kindergarten. However, they did teach me how to cut with scissors along dotted lines.
As if that weren’t enough, I have an MBA from a nearly as acclaimed school and more years that I want to acknowledge working in the corporate marketing world on the other side of couponing, direct mail, and marketing. After managing a few of life’s challenges, as a homemaker and caregiver I have managed to save more than 90% on my family’s grocery bills for the past 4 years. My husband, who is fighting his way back from a close call with cancer and can contribute on a limited basis, is even (as he does say so himself) a true coupon nut. After all, he did ask me to marry him by creating a coupon for an engagement ring and slipping it into my Sunday paper!
With couponing, as with so many activities, there’s a limit to how good most people can be without some expert guidance. From embroidery to taekwondo to cooking, the master knows tricks and techniques that could take years to figure out on your own. And even the master has a master to push her to new heights.
This blog, indeed this entire site, is all about taking your couponing to the next level. You are going to be exposed to insider secrets from the other side of couponing – the manufacturer side of coupon design and strategy. Secrets that not many people know, and an even smaller number of them also have become extreme couponers.
This special knowledge is what we used to create the QSeer Coupon Reader app. But after talking to many couponers, we realized that we still have skills and knowledge that no one else has. Indeed, we felt a calling to share this unique expertise so that others could save more money or become more efficient with their couponing. Perhaps we can even help inspire the next generation of couponers.
We are not trying to compete with any of those wonderful coupon bloggers whom I admire tremendously for creating the expanded interest in couponing. We aren’t even trying to compete with those who offer couponing classes and video education. Their work is terrific, and we encourage you to learn as much as you can from them.
Our concept is to share advanced tips and techniques that come from a different background. Consider this blog your opportunity for a master’s degree in applied couponing. And the only pre-requisite is successfully having been promoted to 1st grade!
