What We’re Buying for the Food Bank This Week (October 3 – October 9)

Three weeks into Food Bank Challenge #2, we have acquired $1,808 worth of food, spending just $312.  This 82% savings rate is pretty good considering that the totals include 105 jars of Skippy peanut butter (along with 528 other food items)!

On this coming Saturday, October 5, Publix starts a new grocery advantage sale.  The Wolf chili deals looks like a winner, and there are a few others that look promising but need more research.  If you see any great deals in the new Advantage Flyer, please share them with us.

Here are the top targets for this week’s Listelope:

At Publix through 10/04/13 (Grocery Advantage Deals)
Skippy Peanut Butter, 16oz jar — $2.50 on shelf, $1.50 after coupon
-       MC $1.00/1 Skippy Peanut Butter product 15oz+, SS 9/15/13
Peanut Butter is the #1 request of our food bank!  This is a fantastic price for peanut butter, $1.50 versus the regular price of $3.29 to $3.79.

Barilla Italian Entrée (Microwaveable Meal), 9oz tray – 2 for $2.49 on shelf, 2 for $0.49 after coupon
-       MC $1.00/1 Barilla Italian Entrée, 9oz tray, SS 8/04/13
These nutritious meals are especially good for seniors and others who live alone!

Newman’s Own Pasta Sauce, 23.5oz to 24oz jar — $2.00 on shelf, $1.00 after coupon
-       MC $0.50/1 Newman’s Own Pasta Sauce, SS 9/15/13
Other brands of pasta sauce can be purchased with coupons for less than this $1 deal, but Newman’s Own is quality product and excellent company, as all of their profits go to charity!

At Publix through 10/09/13 (Weekly Sale Items)
Progresso soup, assorted varieties, 18oz to 19oz can – $0.98 on shelf, $0.48 after coupon
-        MC $0.50/2 Progresso Soup, SS 9/22/13
We may see more aggressive deals in the middle of winter, but for today it is hard to beat a quality soup for less than 50¢.

Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Crispix, or Raisin Bran, 14.2oz to 18.7oz – 2 for $4.29 (B1G1) on shelf, as low as 2 for $2.29 with coupon
-        MC $1.00/1 any Kellogg’s cereal (was printable last month)
We happened to save a couple of these coupons, but if you didn’t, no worries, there’s another cereal deal awaiting…

Kellogg’s Cinnabon, Fruit Loops, or Froot Loops Treasures, 8.7oz to 10.5oz , $1.99 on shelf, $0.99 after coupon
-        MC $0.50/1 Kellogg’s Froot Loops Treasures, any size, printable (registration required)
Anytime you can buy cereal for less than a buck go for it, even if it the sugary kids’ variety.

At Publix beginning 10/05/13 through 10/25/13 (Grocery Advantage Deals)
Wolf Chili, 15oz can – 3 for $4 on shelf, 3 for $1.60 after coupon
-       MC $0.40/1 Wolf Chili, any size, SS 9/22/13
Here’s a very cost-effective way of providing meat to a family in need.

If you would like to acquire any more of these manufacturer coupons, check klip2save or mycouponhunter or any of our other recommended coupon clipping services.

This weekend, October 4 through October 6, features the return of the Publix Gas Card event.  Get a $50 gift card for use at your favorite gas station for only $40.  We’ll get several QT cards to buy our gas for the next month, and donate the $10 in bonus groceries to CLIP HUNGER!
