In this week’s Publix Sale 11/5-11/11, Publix added something new. Publix has a Make Your own BOGO sale advertised on the back page of their flyer. We thought that meant Publix was starting to test having a real BOGO sale here in Georgia, where you really have to buy 2 items to get one free, rather than the 50% off pricing currently in place. So, we tried buying just one item from the Make your own BOGO sale to see what would happen. We purchased Log Cabin Syrup for $3.99, and Publix automatically deducted $2 from the price at checkout as a promotional savings. So instead of the item ringing up as 50% off, it rang up at full price less a promotional savings line item to bring it to half price. The end result for now is the same as any Publix BOGO, but we will have to keep watching to see what they try next. We all know grocery stores are doing what they can to boost their profits by raising prices for consumers.
There are a few items to buy for our local food banks this week at Publix, but the Kroger Mega Deal is better. There is a Visa gift card deal in the Health & Beauty advantage flyer. Just buy a $50 Visa Gift card and get $10 off your $50 food order. You have to pay a $5 activation fee, but the $50 grocery purchase is before coupons, so put the gift card coupon on the top of your stack of coupons and save an extra $5! You can just use the Visa Gift Card the next time you shop at Publix and keep rolling the savings forward. If you are heading to Publix, here are a few items to buy for the North Gwinnett Co-op.

Barilla Pasta, $.99 on shelf after BOGO, $.74 after coupons wyb 4
- MC $1/4 Barilla Pasta, printable below
This is an ok deal on pasta, but Ronzoni pasta is only $.49 per box at Kroger this week with the Mega Deal.
Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes, Corn Pops and Fruit Loops, $1.79 on shelf after BOGO, $.79 after coupon
- MC $.50/1 Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes, printable
- MC $.50/1 Kellogg’s Fruit Loops, printable
- MC $.50/1 Kellogg’s cereals, printable below
These are small boxes of cereal, but at under $1, it is a great deal.
Success Rice, $1.49 on shelf, $.49 after coupon
- MC $.50/1 Success Rice, RP 9/27
We have been buying the small size (2 pouches per box) of boil in the bag rice. Publix increased the shelf price on this product this week by $.20 to $1.49, so we are now paying $.49 per box. I wouldn’t keep buying it at this price, but we do have a few more coupons. Kroger has the larger size (4 boil in bags) Success rice on sale for $1.99 this week, so even though the coupons won’t double, we are likely to buy the rice at Kroger instead.
Mahatma or Watermaid Rice, $1.29 on shelf, $.29 after coupon
- MC $.50/1 Mahatma or Watermaid Rice, RP 9/13
We just keep buying rice every time we are at Publix. Check to see whether the Mahatma or the Watermaid rice in the one pound size is the least expensive.
DiGiorno pizza is $5 each, and with the buy 2 get one free coupon, it is a very nice deal if you need frozen pizza. Also look for the Hall’s cough drop BOGO sale. We found a $1/2 blinkie coupon dispenser right in front of the Hall’s. That brought the price down to $.26 per bag!
Klip2Save coupon clipping service has coupons for the Campbell’s soup deal, Success rice as well as many other coupons.
