Did you notice the Senokot expired coupon in the 10/30/16 RedPlum? A QSeer user asked about it, so I thought everyone might be curious.
The English on the coupon says that the coupon expires 12/31/16. However, the databar is encoded with an expiration date of August 31, 2016. So according to the databar, the coupon was expired before it was even issued!
Currently, not all stores’ POS systems are encoded to check the databar expiration dates. For example, our local Publix stores do not have this function programmed yet. However, about 80-90% of stores do have the capability to automatically check expiration dates. In our area, that includes both Kroger and Walmart.
If you have a nice cashier, they might read the coupon and then accept it anyway. However, if you are at a store such as Walmart where coupons are only accepted if they scan, then this coupon will be rejected by the POS system.
So if you decide to redeem the Senokot coupon, do so with caution. Depending on where you shop, you may not get the savings you were expecting!
