1. The Rubbermaid brand group created a new family code for this product, so these coupons will only work on the Rubbermaid Brilliance line. The pictures below show how the coupons will appear on QSeer after our next update. Rather than using a separate family code for the $5 coupon, Rubbermaid used the same family code for the single Brilliance storage container as they did for the coupon for the 6 piece or larger set.
2. The coupons have an expiration date of 5/14/17 written in English, but there is no expiration date in the coupon barcode.
3. The coupons have “Do Not Double” written on them, but they don’t have double suppression in the barcode. I just find it funny – I sure would like to find a store that doubles $5 coupons!
With these blog posts, we are trying to build awareness of coupon design issues and barcode errors. We recommend that manufacturers and coupon professionals try CHEQR. CHEQR is a coupon DataBar quality control tool, available as an iPad app. It allows manufacturers to see how the coupon DataBar will be interpreted by POS systems and also contains a proprietary algorithm that highlights exposures and opportunities for coupon misredemption.
